Our Mars Terrain

Photo of our Mars terrain

Our Mars Station simulates Mars South Pole. The Martian South Polar Region was first imaged by Mariner 7. The south polar region is part of the highlands of Mars, consisting of old, crater terrain, and other interesting geologic features. Some of the features of the south pole are dunefields, polar cap, layered terrain, and water flows. The Mars '98 lander was supposed to land in the south polar region of Mars.

Our Mars Station was built using the following materials and procedures:
We were able to plot out an image (and its mirror image ) for the background. The large rocks are to keep the rover camera from getting too close. (Back up if view gets fuzzy.)
